About the Writer
Derek Kenney is a neurodivergent playwright, director, and actor out of Oklahoma City. His writing has been produced across the country, earning him various accolades, including Oklahoma’s NextGen Under 30 award in 2022. His holiday play, Cratchit’s Last Boxing Day, is currently licensed and published by Drama Notebook.
His style of writing has been described as "fantastical realism," mixing in symbolically strange, supernatural, Kafkaesque, or irreverently humorous elements with otherwise grounded, recognizable drama. He strives to make art that is unique and unseen, experimenting with both structure and genre, but he also enjoys creating homages or adaptations of other properties and styles that have spoken to him over the years.
He owes a great deal of credit to his local fringe festival for developing his talents over the years, as well as the support and inspiration from his family—namely his wife, Meredith, and his granddaughter, Raya.
